Police Radar
Radar uses a radio signal (wave) to determine the speed of a targeted object, such as a vehicle. The signal have different characteristics e.g. beam lengths and widths. The beam hits the target and reflects back to the radar device’s with a change in frequency and time, which is better known as the “Doppler Shift”.

Laser – LIDAR
Laser – LIDAR uses an infrared light, which is in the invisible end of the light spectrum. In the complete lidar / laser device may have different beam lengths, widths and pulses.

Each speed measuring device has inherent advantages, and disadvantages, but the key to accuracy is proper operation of the device as well as the device itself.
