The Offices of Perry J Zucker, Degreed Engineers, is a well-established and accomplished forensic engineering firm that has been operating since 1993. Our team consists of in-house engineers, technicians, and support staff who specialize in various areas. These include addressing police traffic speeding tickets and violations, evaluating traffic control devices for both probable cause and reasonable suspicion traffic stops, analyzing vehicle traffic accidents and conducting reconstructions, studying automobile black boxes or event data recorders (EDRs), inspecting airbag issues, handling product liability cases, and conducting research and development (R&D) on both new and existing products.

Role and Responsibility of the Expert Witness - Engineer

An engineer expert witness (EEW) is someone who specializes in engineering,  that assist the judicial system  (judges and/or juries and/or lawyers) to  understand the technical aspects of their case. They may be asked to explain how science applies to certain situations, in cases of laws and/or regulations. The EEW, may testify from a gamut of topics from speed measuring devices, traffic accidents as well as research and development.   All of our conclusions are from evidence based data, NOT speculations or junk science.

Suppression Hearing Expert

During a suppression hearing, the expertise of a professional is crucial for successfully suppressing key evidence. This expert should possess knowledge in the specific field related to the probable cause or reasonable suspicion of the traffic stop, such as speed measuring devices, traffic control devices, and traffic accidents, which might change the outcome of the said hearing.

Our team excels at evaluating and analyzing individual cases where the accuracy of speed measuring devices (such as radar, laser, lidar, pacing, gap time, VASCAR, Robic, visual estimation/observation), the functionality of traffic control devices (like signals/lights, signs, pavement markings, and roadways), and the factors surrounding a traffic accident are called into question. We approach these cases from an engineering and scientific perspective, providing site inspections that may involve dimensional analysis, imaging, pretrial preparation, and comprehensive technical reports. Moreover, we are pleased to offer court expert witness testimony as part of our services.

Suppression Motion - Excluding Evidence

A motion to suppress entails a request made to the presiding judge to exclude certain pieces of evidence, with the aim of achieving a conviction. Suppressing said evidence may result in insufficient merit for the case to proceed to trial or secure a conviction. For instance, in a speeding case, if the speed measuring device was not deemed accurate or properly utilized, or if there were issues with traffic control devices such as signals, signs, or markings.
